Tuukka was rescued by his Human, Kyle, in 2020. Rather, Tuukka jumped through the bleacher seat at the shelter and demanded to go home with him. 
Tuukka loved everyone he came into contact with, loved adventure, and was the most loyal companion anyone could ask for. He didn’t live for himself, he lived for time with his people. 
Tuukka passed away in 2026 due to an aggressive form of oral cancer. His human, Kyle, hopes Tuukka’s donation can leave a legacy that forwards the science and research of Veterinary medicine, and that one day a pet may be saved from the same fate.
We at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine are deeply grateful for the generosity of Tuukka’s family and for allowing his legacy to live on through his remarkable contributions to science and education. His gift will help advance research, inspire learning, and make a lasting difference in the lives of both animals and people. May he rest in peace.
